Wear a mouthguard!! This is the best way to keep your orthodontic smile protected while playing sports!
We can provide you with a mouthguard in the office at any time! We also have an emergency supply box outside of each office in Laconia, Plymouth, and Littleton that you can help yourself to at anytime! If you purchase a mouthguard on your own just make sure it is one that is braces safe!
Here are some examples:
If you have braces DO NOT boil the retainers to fit to the teeth, instead they will just rest in the mouth. You are welcome to trim around the edges to make it more comfortable if needed. If you are in Invisalign you can either remold the mouthguard every time you switch your aligners, or you don't have to boil it and it will rest in your mouth.
Important Reminders:
- Keep your mouth guard clean - rinse before and after each use
- Store in a perforated container to let your mouth guard dry out
- Avoid chewing on the mouth guard - this can cause broken brackets
