Fall is one of our favorite times of year! With the beautiful New England fall foliage in full bloom, it's no wonder why the Lakes Region is a wonderful place to live, work and play! With lots to do, who doesn't love this season.
The Lakes Region offers lots of fun places for all ages. A majority of our patients are between the ages of 12-16 and now that we are treating adults, we've realized that this is the perfect area to live! Here are just a few things our patients and our staff love to do during this time of year.
If you're looking for a great view of the fall foliage, Mount Major, in Alton, NH is a wonder hike for the whole family. This small mountain weighing in at an elevation of 1,786 feet, is near the Belknap Range and to the South of Lake Winnipesaukee.

It is also that time of year for apple and pumpkin picking. With lots of wonderful local farms to choose from too! Beans and Greens in Gilford, NH offers a fun corn maze and hay maze for the little ones. The beautiful town of Gilford also offers another popular mountain, Gunstock Mountain Resort. Offering mountain biking, hiking, fishing and ziplining at this time of year.
For those of you that love to shop, the Tanger Outlets in Tilton offers a great shopping experience. And we can't forget about Funspot, at Weirs Beach, which is the largest arcade in the world. These are just a few of our favorites. We hope you enjoy this time of year as much as we do!

October is National Orthodontic Health Month, and with Halloween on Monday, we have compiled a list of specific treats that are ok with braces. As with anything else, always in moderation and make sure to brush and floss very well after!
Good Treats:
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- Kit Kats
- Plain M&M’s
- Oreo’s & Soft Cookies
- Hershey Bars & Hershey Kisses
- Candy Bars without caramel or nuts
Those will keep your braces safe, but don't forget to keep these Trick-or-treating safety guidelines in mind while you are out there filling your candy bags:
- Young children should always be accompanied by an adult
- Carry a flashlight
- Wear a light-colored or reflective costume
- Choose face paint over masks for young ghosts and goblins
- Have an adult inspect all treats before the children dig in
Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!
